Cheek Sculpt
The Beauty Equation

Evidence shows that our perception of physical beauty is hard wired into our being and based on how closely the features of one's face reflect phi in their proportions. The Golden Ratio is derived from phi. Faces who confirm to this golden ratio are rated more attractive than faces that do not, as shown in the example below.

Interestingly, symmetry in the face does not necessarily equate to beauty. Many, if not most, faces that are perceived as beautiful are usually not even close to being perfect in symmetry of the left and right sides. Perfect symmetry tends to result in a face that appears unnatural, animated or robot-like.

The Concept behind Cheek Sculpt

In the past, people were more concerned with 'chasing lines' and having every single hollow or depression on their faces filled in. This led to the birth of many filled-out but not necessary more attractive faces. Recognizing that there are ideal proportions that make one more attractive is important, for as long as we sculpt and define the face towards these proportions, the face will naturally look more attractive.

What is Cheek Sculpt?

Cheek Sculpt is a specialised technique that uses highly structural hyaluronic acid fillers to augment and define the natural prominence of your cheeks, giving you the appearance of higher cheekbones.

How many sessions are necessary?

Our patients notice the difference even after one session. However, sculpting a face to perfection is akin to creating a work of art. Sometimes, a few sessions of fine-tuning may give you the optimal results. Hence, depending on our patients needs, a series of 1-3 sessions may be recommended by our doctors after a consultation and facial analysis.

Is there downtime associated with this procedure?

This procedure is very well-tolerated. It is possible to have pinprick marks which most patients are able to conceal with makeup. While it is rare, it is possible to experience mild bruising which resolves with time. Any bruising can also be treated with our anti-bruise Vbeam laser (ask in-clinic for details). Occassionally, patients notice mild swelling the next day after the treatment which resolves quickly. However, patients are able to continue with work, sports and other activities after the treatment.

What does the final outcome look like?

If you have ever contoured your face using cosmetics, you will see a similar effect with Cheek Sculpt, albeit without the cosmetic aid. The aim of Cheek Sculpt is not to chase lines or volumise the face. Rather it is to bring out the natural beauty and optimal proportions of each face. As such, some faces require less sculpting while oth will benefit from more coaxing. Hence, some patients may benefit from a single session while others achieve their ideal ratios after 3 sessions.
