Intima Touch

Just like skin, vaginal tissue is made up of collagen fibers. During vaginal childbirth these tissues can overstretch, damaging the collagen and creating a feeling of looseness (laxity), especially around the vaginal opening.

Intima Touch Women who experience this loss of tightness may also notice a decreased feeling of sensation and sexual satisfaction during intercourse. These changes can affect a woman's overall sexual health and are a quality of life issue for millions of women every year. In a survey of over four hundred women who had vaginal deliveries, nearly half reported some level of concern with vaginal looseness, otherwise known as vaginal laxity.

Start the Conversation

While it may be a difficult subject to bring up, sexual satisfaction is an important part of a woman's overall sexual health, and is worthy of a dialogue. If there's a concern about vaginal laxity, it's time to start the conversation with your doctor and find out if Intima Touch is right for you.

What is Intima Touch by The Sloane Clinic?

Intima Touch is specially designed to address and restore vaginal laxity in a painless, non-surgical manner. It uses Viveve's patented radio frequency technology to stimulate new collagen production in the treated vaginal tissues, restoring its suppleness and firmness over 30-90 days after the treatment.

What is the procedure like?

Intima Touch requires no anesthesia and can be completed in about 30 minutes. At the beginning of the procedure, the doctor will insert a Viveve treatment tip, about the size of your thumb, just inside the vaginal opening. The tip is circumferentially moved around the opening, delivering pulses of painless radiofrequency energy to the collagen fibers that make up the underlying tissues, while also cooling the vaginal surface. Our doctor will ensure you are comfortable every step of the way.

How does Intima Touch work?

Vaginal tissue reacts to Viveve's radiofrequency energy by stimulating the formation of new collagen fibers, restoring the tissue. This collagen restoration process takes place over time, usually between 30-90 days after the treatment. The changes occur on the cellular level, so there are no outward signs of change to the vaginal tissue. Because Intima Touch is generally well-tolerated and doesn't require anesthesia, there is little-to-no downtime - normal activities are resumed following the procedure.

Is Intima Touch painful?

Intima Touch is a painless procedure and is vey well-tolerated by most patients.

Who performs this procedure?

Our doctors personally perform every single procedure. You may request for a female doctor if you prefer. Please inform The Sloane Clinic staff when booking your appointment with us.

What kind of results can I expect?

In two clinical studies, women who reported an increase in vaginal laxity following childbirth underwent the treatment with the following results:
  • Improved and sustained vaginal tightness was shown by 88% of the women at 12 months after treatment
  • Women who were treated experienced a 68% mean increase in their vaginal laxity scores at 12 months
  • Improvement in sexual satisfaction was maintained through 12 months after treatment
  • No serious adverse events were reported in either study
What are the risks involved?

As this is a non-surgical procedure, the risks and complications, if any, are typically mild, temporary, and resolve shortly after treatment. Reported mild complications and side effects include: slight, white vaginal discharge; redness or swelling; slight abdominal discomfort, focal, transient altered sensation and tingling following treatment. In rare cases, a patient could develop an infection requiring antibiotics.
