Aesthera's Photopneumatic Therapy (PPx) is a breakthrough aesthetic treatment therapy that uses a revolutionary combination of pneumatic energy and broadband light. How are these treated?
A hygienic treatment tip gently draws the area to be treated into the handpiece of the Aesthera PPx system. This "pulling" up motion brings all the unwanted targets (unwanted red and brown spots, unwanted veins) closer to the surface of the skin.
Light energy, when gently applied to the targets, is converted to heat energy and absorbed by the targets, quickly, painlessly and effectively destroying them.
How is PPx Therapy different from other laser and light based hair removal treatments available?
PPx therapy is the first and only therapy to effectively combine pneumatic energy (pressure) with broadband light. PPx ttherapy differs from other laser and light based treatments in that they are 5x more efficient in the delivery of energy to unwanted pigment and veins. This highly efficient delivery of energy allows PPx therapy to use a fraction of the energy that other treatments require. PPx therapy is painless because energy is concentrated in the target to be destroyed, protecting the surrounding normal tissue. This also makes PPx therapy safer than other treatment modalities.
Treatments are relaxing and not associated with side effects such as the redness, crusting or other usual post treatment discomforts*. PPx therapy is 4 to 7 times faster than treatments with other laser or light based technologies. It does do not require pre-treatments with topical anesthetics or cooling gels, resulting in reducing treatment time by 35 to 45 minutes.

PPx therapy's patented process combines the unique properties of therapeutic light with pressure (pneumatic energy) to bring you a breakthrough method for the treatment of unwanted hair, uneven pigment and unwanted veins.
Using a proprietary pneumatic sequence, the treatment area is stretched to reduce the concentration of absorptive chromophores of blood and melanin. This makes the treatment more effective than traditional IPL systems.
When light is applied to the skin, elevated targets, reduced melanin and blanched dermal vessels allow 4x to 5x more photons to impact the target. As the above graph indicates, when compared to other treatment technologies, PPx therapy uses lower overall energies. Energy is concentrated in the target to be destroyed, protecting the surrounding normal tissue. As a result, PPx therapy is associated with no pain and is up to 5 times safer than traditional laser treatment methods.
Before the Treatment:
Before treatment begins, your physician will apply a soothing mist to your skin, to hydrate it.
NOTE: Since PPx therapy is designed to provide you with the safest and most hygienic treatment experience available, your physician will use a brand new tip for each treatment (hair removal, removal of unwanted pigment, removal of unwanted veins) and body part (back, legs, upper lip, under arm etc) that you have treated.
During Treatment:
Your treatment provider will place the Aesthera handpiece on the area to be treated. Based on your skin type (the amount of melanin in your skin) and the body part being treated, appropriate settings will be selected.
You will feel a gentle and warm sensation as your skin is drawn into the treatment tip. In less than a second, mild light energy will be applied and you will feel your skin being gently released back into normal position. Your treatment provider will then move on to the next area, and repeat the process over the entire treatment area.
In a recent clinical study, 100% of patients reported no pain during treatment. Treatment sensation was most commonly described as being similar to that of a warm massage.
Post Treatment:
There are no post-treatment regimens associated with PPx Therapy. So once your treatment is done, you are free to resume your normal activities or apply make-up as you wish.
