Acne

Acne is a common skin disease that causes pimples. Pimples form when hair follicles under your skin clog up. Most pimples form on the face, neck, back, chest and shoulders. Anyone can get acne, but it is common in teenagers and young adults. It is not serious, but it can cause scars.

Hormone changes, such as those during the teenage years and pregnancy, probably play a role. There are many myths about what causes acne. Chocolate and greasy foods are often blamed, but there is little evidence that foods have much effect on acne in most people. Another common myth is that dirty skin causes acne; however, blackheads and pimples are not caused by dirt. Stress doesn't cause acne, but stress can make it worse.

Medications & Creams

The doctors at The Sloane Clinic will assess your skin and may suggest a range of clinically effective skincare products or oral medication to treat your condition. Some patients may choose not to receive oral medications, in that case, the doctors may prescribe some anti-acne treatments to help enhance your acne treatment regimen.

Lights & Lasers

At The Sloane Clinic, we have a specially tailored Clean & Clear Program to treat mild to moderate acne. This consists of both I-Clear and LED red photobiomodulation. Both treatments are safe and comfortable for all patients.

For more severe or resistant acne, Smoothbeam® laser can help to control and regulate your skin's sebaceous activity and enhance skin clarity. You can also go for the Purifying Program for a comprehensive regime using either of the above no-downtime laser technologies to ensure your acne is cleared in the fastest way without the use of oral medicines.

If you need more information or would like to schedule an appointment for a consultation, please contact us at any branch of The Sloane Clinic. We will be pleased to assist you further.
